Why You Should Be Working at The Arc
"I want a job where I can work with people."
"I want to work where I know I'm needed."
"I want to give back to my community."
"I want to make a difference."
If you've ever said those kinds of things, you're the kind of person we want to hire.
The Arc's services cover the entire lifespan from birth through old age, including every aspect of what most people call a good life: home, job, lifelong learning, recreation, friendship, family.
It's not hard work and it doesn't take a saint. It's easy if one respects people and believes that no one should be left out or left behind because a disability creates the need for a little help, or even a lot of help...If one believes that there will come a time when our community not only "tolerates" the people we serve, but welcomes them and believes that their own lives are diminished when people with disabilities are not among us, fully participating in community life.
That time is coming. We look forward to the day when The Arc is no longer necessary, when the idea that people with disabilities are really "just people" has been so thoroughly incorporated into the fabric of our society that the notion of paid care providers seems old-fashioned and out-of-date.
But until that time, we have a promise to keep - a promise we made in 1957 when The Arc was founded. A promise to be here, ready to help, whenever a family comes knocking at our door, looking for hope and a helping hand. And to continue to be here for as long as their loved one with a disability needs us.
Please help us keep that promise. We can't do it without you. Apply today. Here's how to join The Arc family.
