Substance Abuse Treatment
The Substance Abuse Treatment Program offers innovative residential and outpatient services for people who experience a developmental disability (commonly, traumatic brain injury or Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), behavioral health concern, and homelessness, in addition to a substance abuse problem. The program is divided into three phases that acknowledge progress and address the different concerns that arise as a person moves through the recovery process. At each stage, people learn to take more responsibility and exercise increasing independence. The entire program lasts between 18 and 24 months, depending on an individual's progress and needs. Having one program that addresses each of these phases increases people's chance of success.
The phases are:
- Residential treatment - six to eighteen months
- Outpatient treatment - six months to one year
- Continuing care - six months
Services offered by the program include:
- Substance abuse treatment (individual and group meetings)
- Mental health counseling (individual and group meetings)
- Life skills training
- Job training
- Recreation and exercise
- Daily Twelve Step meetings
- Case management
