Nursing Services

The Arc's Nursing Services provide the advice, encouragement, advocacy, training, and oversight that help children with complex medical conditions leave the hospital and return to their families and communities. Our nurses also work with adults whose disabilities require intensive active treatment to avoid institutionalization and continue to live at home and participate in community life.

The Arc's skilled nurses work collaboratively with families, hospital personnel, and community-based service providers statewide to identify individuals in need of services and then strategize the most direct and cost-effective plan for delivering the services they need.

Some of the services available include:
  • Screenings for children with complex medical conditions (CCMC)
  • Training for family members and direct care providers on skilled nursing needs
  • Medication training and monitoring
  • Basic care coordination
  • Coordination with Family Support and STAR Projects to insure immediate health and safety needs are being met
  • Complete screenings, level of care assessments, consents, releases and other required documentation for Medicaid-funded services
  • Visits to homes, hospitals, foster homes, and clinics in remote communities
  • Community health and safety education for preschools, day care centers, schools, and other organizations
